Welcome to the most fascinating golf club in Austria.
Let yourself be enchanted by the idyllic tranquility in the middle of an alluvial forest at the gateway to the South Styrian Wine Route. The experience of nature at the Gut Murstätten Golf Club is as varied as the golf experience that awaits you on our internationally award-winning 36-hole course.
Varied and flat courses in a charming landscape are the trademark of GC Gut Murstätten. The heart of the facility is the championship course. The golf club has already proven its quality at many top-class national and international championships, including as the venue for the European Youth Championships in 1996 with Sergio Garcia and Justin Rose.
The course fits perfectly into the charming landscape of the "Styrian Tuscany", as the South Styria like to be called. Auwäldchen, numerous water hazards (lakes, streams), 120 bunkers, well-kept fairways and moving greens provide both a varied golf experience, as well as pure enjoyment of nature.
Speaking of enjoyment: The dignified clubhouse in the English country house style, with its excellent kitchen, open fireplace, spacious bar and a terrace with the golf course, is recommended.
The Gut Murstätten Championship Course is situated on a flat landscape and has the great character of a Scottish links course. It consists of two loops, each of which borders a large, central lake (which is ideal for swimming in the summer months). The first nine holes are north and east of the lake mentioned. The second nine run west of the lake towards the Mur. The golf course Gut Murstätten Murstätten, due to the mild climate, is always one of the first golf courses that can be played very early in spring.
You start with two dead straight par 4s on the eastern edge of the golf course. Hole 1 and 2 are very suitable for warming up. Although there is mostly thick rough around the entire course, I would tee off with the drive. Hole 3 is a par 5, with 497m there is a dogleg on the left where you can risk the tiger line. At hole 4 par 4, the lake comes into play for the first time. One dogleg to the left and the green is on a peninsula at the edge of the pond. Hole 5, the first par 3, runs parallel to the pond bank. Now the next par 5 follows, which looks terrifying from the tee. Pay attention to the flag position, there are several plateaus on the green. Now there is another beautiful par 3 with green right on the lake. Hole 8, a par 4, is the hardest hole on the course, demands precision and length from the tee. The shot into the green is also very demanding, as you hit diagonally into a shallow green. Back to the clubhouse is a short par 4, but be careful, the green is extremely undulating.
On hole 10, the tee should be placed on the fairway and should be relatively long. The green is defended by lots of bunkers. On hole 11, watch out for the two bunkers on the fairway. On hole 12, a par 5, there is an out limit lurking along the entire fairway on the left. After the tee shot, the lay-up has to be precise, as a water channel runs through in front of the green and there are three tall trees that only leave two relatively narrow gaps on the left and right that have to be played carefully. This is followed by a par 3 very well defended by bunkers. Hole 14 the longest par 4, precision and length from the tee prevent the rough on the right or the tall trees on the left. Another par 4 follows, the 15. From the tee of the 16, there is continuous rough and a bunker on the left, trees and hills lurking on the right. Hole 17 once again requires full concentration. A double dogleg that goes around the lake twice on the left. Finally, the longest par 3 of the championship course is waiting. On the right is a narrow pot bunker, on the left in front of the green a large bunker, and two waves divide the green into three different plateaus.
Golf is pleasure - let yourself be kidnapped
Anyone visiting the GC Gut Murstätten restaurant will find a place to relax and enjoy. Whether with the palate or other senses. The philosophy is to exhaust the regional cuisine with an international flair. Whether Austrian tradition, seasonal specialties or the daily specials, the golf club has something for every gourmet. Cooperation with producers from the region has priority. The price-performance ratio invites you to linger on one of the terraces. In the colder months of the year, an open fireplace lures you into the country-style clubhouse.
We wish you a lot of fun your Golfrestaurant-Team Gut Murstätten.
