The Carinthian Golf Club Dellach, founded in 1927 by Messrs. Foster, Knorrig and Count Nato Hoyos, is one of the three oldest existing golf clubs in Austria. The course was created in the 20s of the last century by a French golf course architect as a 9-hole course, and in 1954 it was expanded to an 18-hole course.
Located on the southern shore of the Wörthersee, the course is embedded in one of the most scenic areas of the Alps-Adriatic region. Flower meadows, forest and lake create a natural backdrop that is second to none.
As an integral part of the attractive holiday offer around Lake Wörthersee, he has welcomed numerous prominent golfers as guests. Located directly on the Wörthersee, the course is characterized by its slightly wavy structure with moderate slopes. The special highlight is the proximity to the lake and the surrounding beaches.
The sporting demands of the course meet players of all skill levels, bunkers, forest aisles, water hazards and a course that is always maintained at the highest level make every golfer's heart beat faster and offer golf with the best views - where else can you enjoy such a magnificent view the picturesque Wörthersee. However, due to its hillside location, the course is also a physical challenge.
The individual holes are very well described on the homepage of the Dellach Golf Club. I am just sharing some of my experiences with you here. Do not start hole 1 too aggressively, play on the right side of the fairway, the green is very undulating! Hole 3 is a par 5, you should tee off right over the hill here. With a nice approach a par or even a birdie is possible. Hole 5, a par 4, is the most difficult hole on the course. Left water right forest and everything uphill! The green also has three levels and is therefore very difficult to read. Hole 6 another par 5, double dogleg to the left. Play along the fairway and don't risk too much. On hole 9 you should place your drive on the left side of the fairway. The whole fairway hangs to the right. The green is raised and elongated.
Now to hole 10, a short par 4, dogleg to the right of a heavily elevated tee. It tempts you to abbreviate a strong right, let it stay. Play center fairway, a good approach is important as the green is very tricky. The 12 is a Monster Par 5. A good tee would be here on the right half of the fairway. There is no point in risking something here. Play conservatively and look forward to a successful par. On hole 13 a par 3, you have a beautiful view of the Wörthersee. A too short iron will be punished and the ball will meet you again. Hole 14 a par 5 downhill, in the Drivelandezone are plenty of bunkers. The green also hangs and is very well defended with bunkers. On the Par 3 16, you should not be short of tea, you will be punished properly. Better a bat more.
Now the closing hole a par 3 with 200 meters on a raised green. Playing the par here is the crowning glory of your round.
